It looks OK to me, but I'm not an expert on this equip.

A couple of comments though:

It has 2 fans, so probably kinda noisy, but prob not an issue if DJing and the music is loud anyway.

A lot of the DJ setups I see use powered speakers (built in amps). The advantages are that it is less equipment to carry and the amp has already been matched to the speakers by the manufacturer.

I own the 402 and I use it in my Home Theater. Crown has a long standing of quality in pro amps and I would say that for $249 and free shipping it is a good choice. I have had mine for 2 years along with 2 other Crown amps and they have all performed flawlessly. Now I use mine in home theater and they don't get bounced around like amps do on the road but Crown makes good quality and it should serve him well. IMO. Here is a little video of their itech series you might enjoy. http://www.crownaudio.com/amp_htm/itechdroptestvideo.htm

I have the 402D and have owned other Crown amps in the past. The 402 isn't what I would consider road rugged (getting hauled around on tour) but as a DJ setup it should work.

If you want to shave a few pounds off you can get a Peavey IPR1600 or Crown XLS 1000 Drive Core for ~$300 and it will be less than half the weight of the 402d.
