.....one more here and I'll leave you guys alone....I woke up early a few minutes ago and am sipping coffee....short and sweet....the damping factor of the Crown K Series is 3000, 10 cycles to 400 cycles....that's "30" times more than the average class A amp averaging 100....a higher damping factor means the amp controls the speakers and not vice-versa....a higher damping factor means quality....a higher damping factor gets on and off the voice-coil more quickly resulting in clean, clean, clean....does the high damping factor stop at 400 cycles with the K series?....not no but hell no....used as a stereo amp pushing full range mains with tons of headroom, I noticed less raspiness in the highs over a Mac 2200 I was using....amazing crispness and clarity without any raspy and I found myself moving toward flat tone control settings prompted by ultra-clean transparency....it's a killer amp for subs for sure, but it's also a killer amp for ANY application where you need really clean headroom.....wouldn't steer you wrong for a barrel of gold....what?....right, they ain't cheap....right now the best price on a K2 is 1239 with free shipping from ElectronicsCity.com....the K1 is only about 200 bucks less and has just over half the headroom of a K2....I quit.....

Could it be the extra headroom that makes it sound better? : :D

.....thanks for the response....I was beginning to think this place was an oil painting instead of a chatroom....hey, if you haven't owned a Crown K Series, you've been only reading specs and letting someone else tell you what sounds best who might be a little hacked off he can't afford a Crown K....that's where most of us here have screwed up at least once through our listening careers, not letting our individual ears make the decision....a long time ago though, I heard 4 Bose 901's with two high, and two low on the side walls, and I had to determine that night about when I could raise the money....I bought a second pair W/equalizer to have an extra in case the first one croaked....low and behold about two months later, the thought hit me to get the second equalizer into the act....I already had the first one inline, so I put the second one on a tape monitor and turned the volume up very slowly....I can't tell you how thrilled I was....it sounded like you were THERE actually pretty close....36 db boost on the highest highs and the lowest lows....amazing outcome full-range but especially low....any of you guys out there got 4 901's and one equalizer need to see to it....you can buy them directly from Bose....find the money.....you'll need at least 400 watts at 4 with the paralleled 901's.......the first thing I said here related to would it SOUND BETTER to spend more on someone else's speaker wire/cables, and I was thrilled you can buy SoundKing and be done with it....now with speakers, unfortunately, that's usually different....Crown K Series....damping factor >3000 from 10 to 400 hz....class dismissed, haha.......

If you think that 901's have a good sound then there goes any credibility you have or had.

.....well, they for damned sure did back in about 1975....I lived it....the two equalizers simply put it on a whole new level.....just like these SpeakerArt TL's did me about a month ago....I honestly am still in awe of them.....the guy who makes them is considered Mr. Crossover in the industry....totally seamless....live presence like I l have never heard....I doubt the 901 's have done anything but improve....hey, you're telling me Bose is crap, and I know better on about 8 products....the Mountain at Framington Mass doth surely prosper, can I get an Amen?.....listen to a Super Bose Setup with 2 equalizers and you'll hear the 2nd or 3rd best system I've been able to run into with no need for sub....correct placement on the 4 901's gives the dimension of heighth along with stereo width and the tamborines are on the ceiling, guitars about middle and bass low....the WHOLE wall comes alive....thanks for the response.....you walk in ignorance, Sir, haha.......

Are you kidding? Why don't you go out and listen to some actual high end equipment instead of playing around in your junk drawer.

Before you go gaga over that damping factor, a meaningless value other than just a ratio of speaker impedance and amp output impedance above about 20.

....well, it's too late....done gone gaga over this amp I've been blessed with thrice....on and off the voice-coil more quickly....I got that definition from Mr. Crossover....what I hear over my Mac 2200 is cleanness rendering presence....what I hear is not just from headroom....these Mr. Crossover speakers have an amazingly powerful live presence with NO need for center channel....guys, I'm really not an idiot, over.......

What the hell are you talking about? You make as much sense as a 2 year old.

Do you mean Mcintosh MC-2200?

Mr. Crossover
What?

.....bud, the problem is I don't waste words and that loses a few when not in person....yes, a McIntosh stereo slave amp that carries the 2200 model number with 200 watts of headroom for each channel which would actually be about 240 being McIntosh....try to keep up........Mr. Crossover....Bob Gross....SpeakerArt Speakers....assembles each pair in his shop and tunes them before shipping them....contracts out the making of the cabinets....just moved from Bakersfield to Morro Bay....about 63 years of age and retired....he obviously won't be making speakers that many more years, and I am in the attitude of striking while the iron is hot....his speakers are a whole new level for presence....

Your rambling on about something but I will try to decode this.

yes, a McIntosh stereo slave amp that carries the 2200 model number with 200 watts of headroom for each channel which would actually be about 240 being McIntosh
It would have been allot easier just to say MC-2200! You can not just say 2200.

Mr. Crossover....Bob Gross....SpeakerArt Speakers
Who? Has he done any work for a company that has any weight in the audio industry?

his speakers are a whole new level for presence
Uh ya because everyone is ditching there current setup's to get ahold of some SpeakerArt equipment? Put those side by side with Totem MODEL-1 Signature and you will see what is better.

Do you have a pair of Super Clefs?

.....yes, I got a pair of Super Clefs from Bob about a year ago....I gave what I had to my son in law two weeks later....the Super Clefs had a live presence beyond what any system I ever had did....yeah, had did.....then these 2 for the price of 1 brand new SVS B4+'s fell out of Heaven at my door....I'll be honest, the standard Super Clefs needed to be cut at 50 hz and it cleaned them up a bit but the low mids up gave a presence I had never heard....I also always wanted a bit of extra treble on the tone control of my Mac pre-amp with the standard Super Clefs.....these much taller Super Clef TL's I received a month ago still have me spellbound at full volume levels, and I want to listen to them nothing but perfectly flat and allowing them to eat all the way to the bottom not being cut....I turn the subs off with orchestral stuff, but anything with a bass guitar needs a little tastefully applied sub for punch and definition....why do you feel challenged when someone loves what they have?.....
