Ok, I am trying to protect my L&Rs from low frequencies that my subwoofer is already handling, but my receiver lacks built in crossovers and a dedicated sub out. Thus, I'm trying to find some kind of (preferably active) crossover that I can use to split the signal between the mids and the sub at around 90Hz.
Currently, I am using an active crossover(don't remember the # off hand) designed for car audio, powering it from my HTPC's power supply, but it's extremely inefficient, introducing a fair amount of noise into the system while probably halving the overall spl output.
The only options I've really found in the home audio dept are the Behringer UltraGraph Equalizers and the crappy bass blockers on eBay. I'm considering the UltraGraph's heavily, especially the 3102, but I feel like they will be totally overkill, since I tend not to equalize my system and I don't have a spl meter (yet)...so this seems like a fair sized money and time pit. The bass blockers, well they're just a capacitor, and they only block at a few frequency points, and I don't want to swap them out while I'm trying to tune my system.
I'm sure there has to be some kind of small, simple active crossover for home theaters on the market, but I can't find it for the life of me.
My equipment, in case you know something that I don't:
Marantz AV-500 Pre
Kenwood KEC-101 (active crossover)
AdCom GFA-555 MkII
Axiom M22Ti (L/R)
Hsu STF-1
Thanks in advance!
