Hi - I want to use an external electronic crossover to biamp my system - highs and mids to speakers, bass to subwoofer. I do not want to send all frequencies to both. There seem to be a lot of car units available on line, but I've yet to see any that are described as appropriate for home use. Maybe the reason is I am trying to do the impossible. Any suggestions?

you might go to partsexpress.com. they have a number of crossovers, as they sell pieceparts to make DIY speakers. if a member named JohnA happens to be on, send hima pm. he works at partsexpress and always tries to help out.

Most consumers aren't interested and/or are not capable of setting up a true bi-amped system, so most consumer systems are all in one... the speaker contains the amp and active electronics or sometimes there's a seperate box designed to work with the speakers. Several companies make these.

If you're looking to DIY your own, look at RANE, Behringer, or other pro audio electronic xovers.

Also, be aware that you will need to bypass the passive xovers in the speakers and possibly buy external amps to make this work. A RTA would be useful as well.
