I have a 3 way crossover that I would like to connect a 8ohm woofer and tweeter to and a 4ohm mid I have a 4 ohm resistor how should I place the resistor in the mid range circuit to compensate for the mids 4ohm resistance? Is this possible?

Connect the 4 ohm resistor in series with the 4-ohm midrange to get 8 ohms. That resistor should have sufficient power handling ability. Since it gets half the voltage going to the mids, it will heat up during operation.
