Crossover gap advice...

What a weekend! So I finallymanually set up my new speaker system, all by myself. Yes, I'm proud of it lol! This is the first time that I've tried. The only thing that I was disappointed about, & I guess its my fault for not doing enough research, is the fact thatmy Pioneer receiver only allows one crossover setting I believe. My surround speakers go as low as 110, but my speakers in the front go lower. If I set my crossover point at 80, my front speakers will be ok but my surround would stop at 110 and have a gap until 80 correct? If this is the case do you set your cross over at 100 or leave it at 80??

Set it to whatever sounds best to you. The surrounds really don't contribute that much to the overall sound anyway.

Personally, I'd cater to your mains if it was me. If you were to do it with respect to your surrounds, the xover should be 120 hz or higher and that would allow too much of the midrange into your sub, which you don't want. That can make for some unnaturally chesty voices..

Thank you. The ONLY issue i have now is with the volume. I ran MCACC with my old Pioneer and with this one as well. For a new AV Receiver, MCACC DEFINITELY made something different. The old receiver's volume was normally at -23 dB for good sound on my XBOX. The NEW AV needs to be turned up a LOT more for louder volumes... I'm on about -8 now watching The Dark Knight and it sounds good, but -8 wouldve been almost unable to bear in terms of loudness on my other receiver. I'm not sure if this makes the new one worse or what... I don't understand why its so much lower using MCACC again for setup, but while -8 db sounds great...crisp and clear...is it bad somewhere in the technical side of things to have it set that far down?? Is it hurting my Speakers somewhere where inside that 'll come back to bite me soon? BTW, i have the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR if anyone can lok up its stats to tell me what they think this volume setting may do to them...
