Have been researching info for making my own interconnects and have one final question. Is a specific crimper required for the Canare connects? I figured that if the crimping was not as "pretty" as it should be I could always techflex the cable and use some shrink to cover the crimping.

Are there low cost crimpers that would work?

Thanks in advance...and thanks for all the info provided on this site.

No, no specific crimper is needed. Get a coax cable stripper and an ordinary crimper. They work fine.

I don't think any crimper will work with the Canare RCA jacks. Cosmetics don't really matter but to get a good mechanical connection you need the proper crimper. The Canare crimper is very expensive. Read the article below and check out the Paladin crimper. And most quality coax F connectors need specific crimpers as well, unless you are buying the really cheap stuff from Radio Shack, which the Canare are not. Check out these links.

I used the canare RCA connectors with a regular crimper and they turned out fine. Maybe the canare could make a better connection, but i dont notice anything wrong with my cables.

Save a bit more money...The Parts Express crimper is the EXACT same thing as the Paladin crimper....You'll still need the Paladin die set. Just set the adjustment toward the middle of the handle on the third setting from the left. This seem perfect as it doesn't overcrimp the center pin and you can't pull the pin off either.

I've been using it for excellent results for both Belden and Canare cables...You just need the right Canare RCA's for either...That first article you linked to for Belden 89259 is spot on. Those RCA's work like a champ with Belden 89259.
