Gday. I own a creative Zen Vision:m mp3 player and have been waiting for a while for the AV cable to be avaliable in Australia. To avoid the wait I thought I would get a typical AV cable to connect to my 3.5mm line out, but now have discovered it does not work - why? because Creative have changed the wiring in my player to prevent use of ordinary cables. I have found though that others have been able to still use the their ordinary cables but just have to change the pins/wires in the cables. Please could you help me understand what this bloke is saying and explain how to do it in lamens terms. It would be even better if you go link me to some sites that show images of what the cables look like under the skin.
For those who want the A/V pin-outs to modify a camcorder cable (4-connector 3.5mm -> 3x phono), I've just done it successfully & the connections are as follows: working from base of the 3.5mm plug to tip: Earth, Video, Audio Right, Audio Left. (e.g. the audio left connector is the tip of the jack).
