Give a try out, since it was given you have nothing to lose plus you'll gain knowledge of how setting up a surround system. With that said, you need to consider the size of your room the seating distance from the front speakers and what you are wanting to achieve with that setup. Will what you have now get you by till you want something that will bring you more enjoyment depends on your budget and what your wanting to do with this hobby. Is music your 1st or 2nd choice of entertainment or
movies? Sure there's better out there at a minimum to get better than what you have now umm.. I'd say by the time you add a AVR for 5.1 or 7 1 plus new entry level speakers and the source, Blu-ray player, would run you about 1K. You really don't have to spend a lot of money to have a decent entry-level sound system. Now your going to get a lot of recommendations on here. I say hook-up everything see how you like it, you may be pleasantly surprised or disappointed you won't know until you try. Welcome to AH! Enjoy your set-up!!
