Crank 2 blu ray problems

Hi,

I read across forums about the issues with Crank 2 BD and I wanted to share my experience and gather inputs.

I have a Panasonic BD60K bd player. When I tried viewing the Crank 2 bd movie as usual I faced the square image issue on the screen and sound began to play without video etc.

Now i tried using a microSd card(since i had this card first) encolsed within a SD card adapter and inserted it in the SD card slot of the player. The player tried to download the upgrade but for some reason it could not complete the upgrade.

I borrowed a separate SDHC card(class4) and repeated the same process and it worked - though I had to connect to the internet in both cases.

I checked the SDHC card and observed that the upgrade file is less than 100 MB. So I tried copying the upgrade file from the SDHC card to the micro SD card to see if it works with the microSD card(with the SD card adapter). But unfortunately it didnt.

I would like to understand why didnt the upgrade work with the microSd with SD adapter card, so I can avoid purchasing a separate SD card just for a 10$ bd.

And now if I want to view the BD again, do I need to connect to the internet everytime?

Can someone please help me with this issue?

Thanks.

This disc was known to cause many players to need a firmware update, your best bet is to just download the firmware from the panasonic website and burn it to a cd-r and install it that way. If you can't do that, then panny will mail you a disc at no charge, you could call customer service to order one, and maybe they can connect you with someone who can explain to you how to upgrade your fw via sd card, or why you can't update your fw via sd card.

Sorry for posting this issue in this forum too, I didnt receive any response in the other forum and hence I thought it best to post it here.

I have updated the firmware of the panny bd player by downloading the update onto a cd and updating the player. But the problem persists with just this blu ray(Crank 2).

Is there anyway to confirm whther a microSd card within a SD card adapter would work in this case?

Thanks.

I would expect the MicroSD to work with an adapter too, but since you tested it and it didn't, there's a good chance that is the answer. I've never had one in an adapter not work with a device, but I haven't tried it in a player yet. I have a BD65
