Craigslist score: Infinity HPS-1000

I ran across an ad for an Infinity HPS-1000 subwoofer that doesn't power on. It was sold circa 2000 for around $1000, with a 15" driver, two 15" passive radiators, 1000 watts advertised, and around 4 cubic feet. I got it for $30. The guy (he seemed reputable) said there was some small water leak that fell on it, the amp wouldn't power on after that, but that the driver should be fine.

My thinking was that I could watch for a used pro amp on Craigslist, and open up the Infinity and bypass the amp section. I often see decent-sized PA amps going for $200, or maybe a little less. Or, I could try and get a plate amp, but I think that would be a lot more expensive for a high-powered amp. I could look into repairing it, but I don't know if that can be done or would be cost-effective. I'll probably at least give Infinity or an electronics shop a call. Maybe I could take it into a local shop and see if they see anything obvious that went wrong.

Anyone have an idea of which approach (repair, buy pro amp, buy plate amp) would be best?

Does the amp have a fuse?
Yes, but the fuse looks fine. I would be able to see if it was blown, right?

Anyway, apparently it took me a month to find my English allen keys to open the thing up. The woofer is on bottom, PRs on the sides and the plate amp is on the front. There's a plate on the back with the power input, fuse, and the audio jacks. (I think there are speaker-level in/outs but I don't want to tilt it and look now that it's opened up.)

I opened it to see if I can remove the amp so I won't have to take the huge cabinet in for repair. It appears that I can; the amp slid off of some rails after undoing a couple screws. There are 3 cables coming out of the cabinet; 2 3-leads and 1 2-lead. All the cables look like they can be disconnected by pulling some plugs and undoing a few more screws although I haven't done that yet. I'll try to call an Infinity authorized service center tomorrow. I'd really prefer to get the amp fixed for the cosmetics of it, but only if I can do it for less than the cost of a replacement. (probably a pro amp.) If I can't get the amp fixed, I'll have to figure out which cable is which to hook up another amp.

Nothing looks burned or blown up to me, although I didn't look that closely.

There's also an "audio/video eq" switch that was broken, so I imagine I'd have to get the parts for that from Infinity. I don't know if that was broken before the amp stopped working, or what.

I took some pictures but I can't get them off my camera at this moment.
