Couple Questions....

Which do you guys think would be the better set up? Im looking at spending under $999.99 :D Speakers and receiver. But it looks like with this set up Im going to be a bit over budget

1. I was looking at the SVS SBS-01 set up for $799. Is the 12" sub for $100 more worth it? or should I just spend that money on the receiver?

2. Is there a Receiver for around $250-$350 that will run these with at least 7.1? I dont mind open box or refurbished. Also if I buy a 7.1 Receiver will it be impossible to ever run 2 subs?

3. Will this be the best value for my money? Or should I piece together a system? I tried looking locally to see if anyone around here sells these but I didint have any luck. I wanted to hear these to make sure they were good for music as well as my home theater.

4. One last question....If/when I buy these and down the line I decide I want more.....what would be a good set of towers I could buy to complement these and turn them into a 7.1 setup?

Thanks for any help or advice!!!

I'm not sure where your pricing for SVS speakers came from, but it does not match anything on their website http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_black.cfm

SBS-01 5.0 system on sale http://www.svsound.com/products-spks-sbs01.cfm

you could add a decent a/v receiver that decodes HDMI audio and HD audio codecs. Onkyo SR507, Denon 590, Pioneer 919 are starters.

SV Sound has a 45 day return period, so you get to try the speakers in your own home. Read their FAQ for warranty and return conditions, like packaging in original boxes and internal foam.

as for your budget, you may need to put the subwoofer on hold until the budget rebounds. And yes, almost any receiver with a subwoofer pre-out can handle 2 subs with their own built-in amplifiers. You just need a simple dual head RCA cable http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=663&seq=1&format=2

What are your room dimensions? I just finished my HT system yesterday with my SVS speakers and sub. It flat out rocks! I have heard a good number of systems and I would like to think I did this one right, trumps some of the "professionally installed" expensive systems my friends own. I am very happy with the speakers. I went with three SCSs up front and SBS for surrounds and rears. The real treat is the sub. I went with the PB12-Plus. That thing will rumble the whole house. My room dimensions are 17x28 and sound is not an issue. FYI, I'm running a Marantz SR5004 receiver. Bottom line, I highly recommend SVS.

+ 1 for the SVS setup here!
Even though the closeout is over, it never hurts to give it a shot, anyway;)

1. Yes - the 12" sub is definitely worth the extra money, IMO, but even the 10" is a very worthy purchase.
2. You can run dual subs with a simple Y-splitter from your sub out connection so that's not a problem.
3. IMO, yes - one of the best values for this price range around, not just because I own them myself, but because of the hundreds of review out there basically stating the same thing. There are other similar values from brands that unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with, but others here do.
4. SVS has actually come out with an STS-01 tower speaker version of this line, http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sts01.cfm: Granted, these are not tower speakers that will dig low into the frequency band, but they are specifically designed to compliment the SVS line of subs and other matching speaker sets. I almost plunked down some cash on these, but went with the SCS-01(M)'s instead - will likely upgrade to the STS's later when I finally go full 7.1
