I have such a hard time placing 2 subs in my little place and it's driving me kind of crazy. Does this make any sense stacking a down firing sub on top of a front firing sub.

Looks like you have room to place them around the Front Left Speaker. The huge one on the left of it, and the small one on the right between the speaker and the TV.
