Could someone help me make an enclosure for my 10" Cerwin Vega Stroker?

All right this is a 10" Cerwin Vega Stroker sub that I want to make an enclosure for. I was gonna sell it but thought what the heck I will go ahead and try it for home theatre. Here are the T/S parameters:

Fs: 36hz
Qts: .72
Qms: 10.2
Qes: .775
Vas: .566ft3
Xmax 29mm
Revc 2 x 1.6ohm

It is a DVC 2ohm sub that handles 2000 watts RMS. I gave it a shot with WinISD beta and about 3.8ft3 tuned @ 20hz looks pretty good for this sub I thought, but I am definitely not an expert.... so any recommendations would be awesome from you experienced guys. I will start out powering it with an O Audio 500 watt bash but might jump up to a Behringer EP2500 at some point.

post your graphs.

I don't think it would hurt to give it a shot. I think you should go ahead with a Behringer ep2500. I know it may cost a bit more, but why buy something you are going to replace. That doesn't make sense. If you want a bash amp to hold you over at least get the cheapr 300 watt. The difference will be around 1.5 to db in response which is not very noticeable IMO. And won't justify the 80 dollars extra in price that could be saved toward the EP2500.

Just trust us and go with the EP2500. it costs about the same as the 500w bash amp. And if you are patient once you pair it with a DCX you will be blown away. You could also use something else I'm sure if you need to save some cash.

Does anyone even make a plate amp that can handle a 2 ohm load? One channel of a Behringer 1500/2500 would probably work much better.

Sorry I have never posted a graph how do you do it? I already have a infinity kappa perfect build with an o audio bash 500. With the Behringer would i be able to run both subs off 1 DCX?

alex: the sub is dvc 2 ohm so i can run it at 4ohm.

Well you better make sure you can run it at 4 ohm. Because I don't think the ep2500 is 2 ohm stable. And I know the bash amp won't be.

Could someone help me out putting up the graph. And possibly help me make an enclosure for this sub?

Can I run 2 subs with one DCX?

You can easily run 2 subs with a DCX. The DCX works best when running a sub channel (can be run to multiple amplifiers) and the main speakers. It is possible to get stellar integration this way.

Okay i will look into the DCX....

Anyone have any ideas for an enclosure for this sub?

Just doing a quick calculation of the EBP (Energy Bandwidth Product) it comes to 46.45 which tends to mean sealed enclosures are best however it is approaching the borderline of use in vented applications. I will dig into it tonight.

I had it in my car tuned to 29hz and it sounded really good, I liked the way it sounded better than a sealed JL audio 15" I used to have.

Are you sure the Vas is correct???

That looks extremely low, even for a 10" woofer!

I modeled the sub. All in all, there are much better options out there. The response starts at -3db at 85hz, peaks near +.25db at around 46hz, then dips to -1.91db at 24hz, it then goes up to -.94db at 20hz and then to -3db at 18hz The response is very peaked near tuning.

Enclosure size offering best response is 3.5ft^3 tuned to 20hz with a 3.5" x 15" vent 93.70" in length. That is the smallest vent that keeps the vent mach within allowable limits.

This also figures using an infrasonic filter at 18hz 2nd order (minimum) and a low pass filter at 80hz 2nd order (minimum).

Yes vas is correct.
Would it be better to tune the sub higher even tho its a home theatre sub?
What do you mean 2nd order minimum?

12db/oct. minimum

Tuning higher really did not benefit much other than shortening the vent length. The ripple in response is still quite evident however.

I am going to sell this cerwin vega stroker and just go with another kappa perfect build. Thanks to everyone who helped out.
