Could have I done better?

Well I hastily order my HDMI cable right after I orderd my DVD player. I orderd the Blue Jeans Cable HDMI, but then I noticed that most of the people on this site have been using the DVIGear HDMI. Would it be worth getting the DVIGear over the BJC? Its just a short run, and I can sell my friend the BJC for what I paid for it so I wouldnt be out the cost of it. Also what do you recomed for Optical? Ive noticed that most of the time Impact Acoustic is used, is that the way to go?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the BlueJeans cable. Many people here use BlueJeans cables. Besides, you'd be hard pressed to see any difference at all between any properly designed HDMI cable. The same goes for optical.

Go with whatever you want to, just don't overspend.
