Cosmetics - Polishing scuffs and scratches?

I have a small scuff on my new RX-V1500 receiver that occured while sliding it in to the cabinet. It is deep enough to show paint removal but is hardly noticeable unless one really were to look at it. But when I sell this thing in the future I want it to look as it did out of the box. Anybody recommend any type of polish I can use to fill in? I also have one on my laserdisc player (CDV-W901) and it is the only thing from keeping it minty fresh. Help!

There are products that remove very small scratches that are often sold as eyeglass cleaners. They are basically 4000 grit sandpaper and a finishing polish. The grit is so fine that it rubs out the scratch without damaging the surrounding area.

I doubt they would work to cover a scratch that removed paint from an aluminum surface - the Sharpie idea or furniture scratch removers may work well for that.
