Correct HDMI Version

I'm a newbie to this forum so hope this is the correct sectiin to ask this question. I want to make sure I am using the correct HDMI cable.

I have had to replace all my tv and audio equipment due to a lightning strike 2 weeks ago. I have bought the tv, a Sony Bravia KDL60W610B, so not a 3D or 4K, but it is capable of 1080p. I have picked out a Pioneer Elite VSX-LS101, which is a 2016 model with HDMI 2.2 inputs. I am not very techy so dont exactly how this relates if I dont actually have a 4k tv. But bottom line is, do I need an HDMI cable with ethernet for the 1080p functionality or do I get a high speed HDMI able without ethernet?

Fyi...I will connect all components to the receiver with high speed HDMI and then one HDMI from receiver to tv HDMI ARC so this one between tv and receiver is the one I am questioning. IDK, maybe they all need the same type HDMI cable. Right now the only component is Directv, will be adding a Bluray disc player in the future.

Just look at Monoprice.com , go ahead and get the high speed, ethernet capable cables, price difference isn't worthwhile and then your sorta future proof.

I would strongly urge you to not use ARC. It's a nice idea, but it can be very problematic.

NOT USE ARC? I thought that insured both video and audio cue from the av speakers? Plus I want the audio from the TV smart apps (Netflix, Amazon Video) to come thru the AV speakers.

Plus, I already had a Sony Bravia (2013 model) connected to a Pioneer AV and used HDMI ARC with no problems at all. Maybe things have changed with this newer model Sony tv and the Pioneer AV receiver I am planning on getting?

OK, I didn't know you were using the smart apps.

ARC may or may not be problematic, I don't use my tv's smart apps anymore anyways but with my Samsung tv and an Onkyo avr it wanted to always turn the avr to "tv" instead of what I wanted on power-up. Do any devices actually use the ethernet channel?

Try this otherwise http://www.hdmi.org/consumer/finding_right_cable.aspx
