Corner Set-up/Placement?

New to the game...

On the attached drawing, I have a TV in the corner. Now, I have my fronts beside the TV and the sub sitting behind the tv stand, hugging a side wall.

Its going to be a complete 5.1 system. I listen to a lot of CD's, and watch DVD's. I will be purchasing a blu ray player soon. The arrows are to indicate the orientation of that particular seat. Everything is pretty accurate to each other as far as scale goes.

Hardwood floor, with a very nice rug in the middle. Hardwood House. Front Window behind the couch. Promised the girlfriend that nothing would go in front of the fireplace.

Where is the best place to put the rears in this setting for the best sound? I would really appreciate any advice involving speakers, living room arrangements, or life in general!

Thank you.

I would place the display to the left of the fireplace and the couch in the diagonal corner. This will give the primary listening and viewing position a better starting point. A square room is not ideal so placing your front speakers and display in the corner will help with the room acoustics. This also prevents the couch from being placed against a back wall. Sitting in the center or back of the room is an acoustic no no, ESPECIALLY in a square room. This should also make rear speaker placement in relation to seating position better, as well.

Thanks, I gave it a shot. It actually looks pretty decent and the woman doesn't mind it too much.

Sounds great too. Where would the sub go in relation to everything?

I'd hide it under a table or behind a plant. Seeing as your woman is gonna have a problem with it sitting in the middle of the room.

Seriously, you can put it anywhere, but you'll know you've got it in a good spot when you're sitting in your seat and you can't locate where the bass is coming from.
