Can anyone help me on a decision for a reciever update? I am very behind on what is going on in this arena. I have been looking at an Onkyo TX-SR606B and a Yamaha HTR-6150BL. Any opinions, criticisms, helpful advise? They are both in my price range.

What are your listening habbits (in terms of % movies vs. music)?? And what speakers are you looking to drive with the new AVR as well as 5.1, 2.1, 7.1 etc? The two AVRs listed are not bad choices, but in terms of $$ what is max? This info will help in picking an appropraite AVR for your needs...

$400 max, 7.1, mostly HD movies.

Don't let the items in my signature fool ya. I got all of it at estate sales and people giving some to me. I had someone else set it all up.

Well for that kind of budget and your speakers I would say most definitely go with the Onkyo 606....the only option you have which is a very good deal right now the Denon 2308ci which was a $800 AVR but is on big sale as the 2309 is out...you can get this unit for $449 at 6ave electronics right now and thats with shipping....if you can swing the extra $50 this would probably be your best bet....but then again I am biased towards Denon....still a great deal though...
