Hello all, I hope I'm this is the right forum for this.

I have a Samsung HCL4715W http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Samsung_HCL4715W and I'm having problems with the convergance. I've tried to manually readjust it but to no avail. I'm wondering if the convergance board is bad or whatever controls it?

I've done all the troubleshooting in the manaul and whatever I could find on the net but everything points to that. (Yes, I'm clueless when it comes to TV's.)

The warranty was up last June so this is coming out of my pocket. Any recommendations on a company to fix it? I live in Orange County, CA and was hoping one you you could point me in the right direction and maybe give me a ball park figure on how much this would cost...

Thanks for your time!

So it won't let you run the auto convergance? You said you tried to adjust it manually, can you clarify a bit? In reality the TV is 1k. I'm sure you are going to drop at least $300 on a repair. Is it worth it? Have you tried to call about the warranty and complain? Sometimes you can get them to cover the problem.

Correct, Auto adjust doesn't do anything and when i try to line up the 9 points manually, nothing moves/happens.

I did hear it could cost anywhere from $150 to $300+ but was trying to get a better knowledge here of the possible price.

As for the TV probably not being worth it, I don't disagree but I don't have the money right now to replace/upgrade as I would love to spend a few grand on something nice but I don't have it at the moment.

Thanks for your help so far. :)

How bad is the picture? I would guess that it is the main processor board in the unit, you could probably swap it out yourself. I doubt it would be anything else.

The picture looks like what movies look like when in 3-d but with green in it instead of just red and blue. :p

I can post a picture of it here if it would help. Just need my GF to get back with the camera.

And it doesn't change at all when you try and fix it manually?

Wow that is bad. It looks to me like the the horizontal section of the unit (red tube) is gone. I dont think the mainbord is going to fix this. Does it smell like anything burned? I would take a bottle of freeze mist for electronics, open up the back find the Horizontal amp section and blast all of the transistors, IC's and resistors, see if the pic changes or gets better. Be carefull not to touch anything in there because there are a few pretty high voltage components. It stings when you get bit by them (trust me I know).n If you don't feel comfortable doing that, it needs to go to a pro, it shouldn't cost you too much, prob 2-300 if you take it to someone.

Nope, no burning smell is coming from the unit. I do build computers and what not but when it comes to monitors and TV's, I wont touch them. :p

Okay, looks like I'll bite the bullet and have someone come out. Thanks for all your time on this as I really appreciate it. :)
