Considering changing out to an older Infinity IL40, IL25c, IL100s system. Mistake?

Just an update. I lucked out and got 3 RSL CG24s for a little over $200. Replaced the Klipsch towers and Def Tech center with them, ran Dirac and couldn’t be happier. Movie vocals are clearer and music also is much cleaner and detailed. Definitely an upgrade which is what I was looking for.
Thats fantastic.
As I always say...it's hard to go wrong with RSL !
(make sure to look at your crossover points, and large/small settings after running Dirac)

Thanks! Yes, Dirac had set the receiver RSL crossovers at 80Hz. I set the them to 100Hz. The TX-NR7100 doesn’t have the large and small speaker categories.

Small/large just means use bass management or not, yours just uses the terminology of crossover or full band.

Now I’ve figured out my TV is a bottleneck for movie and streaming audio (Amazon Music). Looks like the Nvidia Shield Pro is the best option. Hard to believe it’s still relevant after 5 years but apparently it is.

It may have a powered woofer, unlikely it is an actual subwoofer.
i don't know if they are an "actual subwoofer" but most of the cabinet is for the sub.
the driver is at the bottom and the port is at the top facing back towards the wall.
the other drivers are enclosed in their own plastic tube.
i have the sub dial set to 6 and that's just a tiny little bit high.

I think they are fairly decent speakers. They are known for blowing their tweeters, so don't play them loud. Speaker exchange offer replacement tweeters for $49.0 each

speaker exchange sells used drivers
for this specific tweeter, i say buy new from infinity like i did
the reason is due to the ferrofluid in the tweeter
the used one i bought (not from speaker exchange) was bad

Have to admit, I know very little about this line from Infinity..but they are all well respected everywhere from what I see.

Over on AudioKarma the consensus seems to be that the tweeters should be replaced due to ferrofluid loss, and that they are fragile as TLS Guy has stated.
Some owners find the 40's sounding dull and prefer the 10's, with some considering the 10's the star of the line.

Personally if I had a pair, I would pop that gray plastic panel off and paint it black...looks cheesy to me.
And, as always the OP won't know if he likes them until he has them.
i'm surprised you found that post.
i don't know if the ferrofluid leaks out due to pushing them too hard or just age.
i pushed mine for about three hours while i was doing some diy and no problem

You’re probably right. The FR listed it going down to 20Hz which got me to thinking that.
i played a few yt divs to test mine and i could hear the sub around 25-30
i don't know how accurate those test vids are though

How many dB down at 20hz and at what spl?
that's a good question
from my memory and through a yt bass test vid
i could hear it rumble around 25-30 at conversation volume
maybe as a new speaker it did better but...
