Considering change...My big monoblocks/pre-amp for a simple AVR

So, in my living room, I had removed the tv and such a while back and have enjoyed just having music, makes me far more productive and more "family time".

So...I currently have a pair of KEF iQ7's running off of a pair of Denon POA4400 mono block amps and a Denon POA800 stereo amp pushing the kitchen speakers all running from an AudioSource PreOne/A.

Seriously considering trading the amps and pre for another Pioneer Elite (the level of my current theater AVR or higher)

I'm never going to have a dedicated listening room for music and think the simplicity and narrowing of equipment might be the right choice. I never use anywhere near the output potential of those giant things, nor is the purity of signal going to be an effect in the type of environment they are in.

Thoughts? (or even better, trade offers :)

Not really clear of what you are trying to achieve. Did you previously move the TV to another room for HT and the living room for music and you are now thinking of having HT and music listening all in one place again?

In Direct Mode, I'm sure Receivers will sound the same as Pre-pros + Amps.

Sorry to sound unclear.
i have a dedicated theater, and wont be making any changes to that.
considering slimming down all the components of the 2 channel music only system that is in my living room. because of the room not being an ideal listening roomlayout, I think that my equipment is just overkill and I wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the current setup and a good avr.
wondering on some more educated opinions.

AVR would be a waste, I think. A nice integrated. The Pioneer Elite A-35R was reviewed here somewhere and came up a winner. I have owned one and can attest to their bang for the buck. Sharp looking, too. And the B speakers can supply the power for your zone 2.

I have looked in to these and the newer SX amp as well, but their output seems that it's would be so low.

45x2 on that one and 70x2 on the SX

Just because you may have overkill, what do you gain with changing the stuff out? Saving some space? Can you stack all of your equipment vertically, so as to take no more of a footprint than you would with one receiver?

What's another nice thing about separates is that it gives you the most flexibility with introducing EQ, bass mgmt, stuff like that. Hey, maybe one day you'll do a 2.1 or 2.2 system, maybe even make your own, or if you get an active setup you would need separate amp channels for instance.

But I understand wanting a more streamlined look and/or usage. If the amps are triggered, then you may not even get more streamlined usage anyhow I suppose.

It's all about the amount of stuff. I have a pretty minimalist style in the living room with all scandinavian furniture. Having a cutting down to just the disc player and a integrated unit that can still output the volume I play at would be alot more visually appealing than 2 massive mono's, a stereo amp and a pre-amp with the disc player.

How about the HK3490? That gets you 2X120W. It does video, and can be used a a preamp as well. Based on the info you provided, you most likely would find the SQ acceptable, meaning it would not be worse than what you hear now.

That's a very clean design as well
