Connections to DLP Projector

I have just bumped up from a Dell 2100MP (which blew lamps every 100 hours) to a InFocus SP 5700 for my home theater. I was using the component (RCA) connections from my DVD player. I connected an RCA to DB-15 adapter, then ran a DB-15 cable (about 25') to the RS-232 (DB-15) connection on the projector.

MY QUESTION: The SP 5700 also has the DB-15 connection on it, but would a DV cable be superior? I know the length of my cable may become an issue with signal quality, and I will have to fish another damn cable through the walls. What are the pro's and con's of component versus DV cabling?

Thanks!
