If you have kids... you know there are times you don't want to have to fire up the 5.1 controller, amp etc up for a Cinderella dvd. I've got Anthem avm 30

I'm trying to connect my system to allow the option of watching a DVD using my TV's speakers for the audio. The video is fine since it comes to the TV directly over component connectors.

The problem is the audio.. My DVD player's 5.1 analog and digital coax connectors to out go my controller so they are not avail. My DVD's 2 channel analog outs are not available because I have a CD signal going to a tube buffer. That leaves me with dvi, hdmi and firewire connections available. My mitsubishi wd62825 tv has firewire connectors which would be the logical choice but I can't seem to get this to work. Any ideas would be great.
thanks

HDMI audio

Does your HDTV have an HDMI connection? If so, it might be able to receiver the audio over the HDMI connection. In this configuration you could also eliminate the component video connection from DVD to TV and turn the TV's speakers on or off when appropriate.
