I have an RXV4600 and an older HTR 5590 that I want to employ in a multi-room setup with components hidden in a central 'hub' cupboard. I've been reading 'Latest Technology in Automated Home Control' by Robert Bucceri, which advocates separate hardwired IR zones when using two components of the same brand.
I'm just not sure how the in/out remote mini jacks on the recievers work; are they a replacement for a stick on emitter? What sort of cables are they and can they go into IR connecting blocks? If so, does the 'out' jack just a allow for a signal to pass through to another component with the same kind of connection? Or is it require some kind of proprietary yamaha solution? (Other components are in the signature below, if it matters, tivo has 'control out' IR and serial mini jacks, but the others use 8 pin/DB9 type serial connections)
Any suggestion on how to go about this? I know this is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question, but if anyone could point me to a good resource I'd be most grateful.
