hi,
i have a denon 589 receiver for my home theater system.
i have connected all my speakers but, i have a connection for the
subwoofer that is like a rca jack. how can i connect the subwoofer
that has peeled wire where you just slide them into the slot and
tighten the connection.
Also I don't know where to put it because I have used all the speaker
connections on the receiver. (denon 589)

all replies will be appreciated very much

Welcome to the forum, Bullydogg!

To best answer your question, we would need to know which subwoofer you have (manufacturer and model). With your description, there are some answers that would apply to certain subs, and other answers that would apply to other subs. You could alternatively answer the questions below:

1. Is your sub active or passive (i.e. does it have a built-in amplifier)?
2. Does your sub have speaker-level outputs?

It sounds like your subwoofer is passive, not active (i.e., it does not have an amplifier built into it). If it only has speaker level inputs, then the only way you can use it is with a speaker level connection. If your passive subwoofer is designed to be used with your main speakers, and if it has stereo speaker level inputs & outputs, hook up the inputs to the passive subwoofer to the front channel right and left speaker wire from the receiver, and run speaker wire from the subwoofer to the front right and left speakers; there will be no direct connection between the receiver and the front right and left speakers; the connection will be through the subwoofer. On the receiver, you will want to the settings to be: subwoofer off, main right & left front speakers large.

Now, if your subwoofer does have an RCA type input, you would probably want to do things differently.
