Connecting speakers to a PC!?

I have a pair of book shelf speakers and I was thinking of conecting them to my PC. Does anyone know of any external amplifier-type systems that could be used for this purpose. I'm not trying to spend too much on this. I was just curious to see how they would sound hooked up to my computer.
I do know that Axiom offers a package that comes with a pair of speakers and an external amp and it connects easily to any PC. I already have some speakers to use though, so really just looking at what could work for a power supply. Any ideas?

Virtually any receiver of integratd amp would serve your purpose. If possible. look into vintage (used) gear. perhaps from the 70's or so. You can get some good buys on some excellent gear and, if memory serves me well. some integrated amps tend to be fairly diminutive, both in size and price.

we use the Parts Express T-amp in a small conference room at work and it works extremely well with a computer sound card. Most listeners are very surprised when they hear the sound coming from a $50 amp and $75 speakers.

That Sherwood doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm keeping both ideas in mind, but please help clearify some things for me. It's obvious how the T-amp would be connected, but how do you connect a receiver to a PC? Please forgive my ignorance here. I'm not as familiar with PC audio. Most of my experience has been with HT sound. Most of the mainstream speakers for computers aren't that great, but they are pretty simple to use, just plug them into your PC. Anyway, just thought i'd try to do something a little different, but just need a little guidance if i go the receiver route.

Oh don't you ever buy that cable from monoprice. Many have had problems with ever mini-jack connectors that monoprice use. Just buy one from your local radio shack. 10$ can't kill you.

A Y-splitter works incredibly well though. More than I expected. I got two Energy bookshelves connected on a NAD integrated and it rocks.

The customer reviews on their website give this product a rating of 93.64%. That seems pretty good. The only negative thing i've heard is that it is mentioned that the colors are reversed. I don't suppose that matters once it's hooked up. As long as it works.
