Hi All,

I have samsung soundbar HW-T450 (pair with wireless subwoofer) that has only optical digital input. I want to upgrade my system into real 5.1 channel home theater using AV receiver, but I don't want wasted my existing soundbar & wireles subwoofer.

This is My Plan:

1. Using My soundbar as center channel speaker
2. Using Soundbar's subwoofer as 0.1 channel (Subwoofer is wireless and can only natively connected to soundbar)
3. Connect Center Channel & LFE(subwoofer) pre-out of my AV Receiver, to Analog To Digital (ADC) converter using stereo RCA cable as input and optical toslink as output, with following configuration:
a. Center Channel pre-out as L input in ADC
b. LFE Channel as R input in ADC
4. Connect optical toslink ADC output to Soundbars input.

My Questions is:

a. Does the soundbar can separate Center Channel & LFE signal, and deliver that signal into correct target?(Center channel signal to soundbar & LFE to subwoofer)

b. Does all speakers in soundbar received signal as "mono" or "stereo"? , I Prefer mono, because if stereo, according to input configuration, only L channel that containts Center Channel signal, meanwhile R channel will containts LFE channel signal)

Thank you in advance

Regards,

Hanya

No. The soundbar will only route an encoded 5.1 bitstream signal to the proper channels. Your ADC will be delivering a PCM stereo signal. Thus the soundbar will send your center-channel signal to its left channel, and the LFE signal to the right channel.
