Connecting my Sharp Aquos Flat screen and Zvox 580 sound system through a OPPO BDP-103D

I just purchased the OPPO Blu-ray and want it connected through the TWCable box using the HDMI #1 ARC so it will play the Darbee effect. Any help walking me through the hook up would be greatly appreciated. I hope I am not repeating any similar previous threads.

Post deleted. Sorry, I don't know enough about audio return channels to help. I'm sure some of the guys here will be able to help.

Not sure what model of tv you have but are you actually looking to source audio from the tv directly? That is, it is a smart tv or you have over-the-air content in the tv you want to get to your soundbar? That is all ARC would provide and since it is the same audio quality as a digital optical or coax, you don't necessarily need ARC.

I don't see that the soundbar is capable of hdmi input at all, let alone ARC, so any content from the tv to the soundbar would be by one of the other input options (appears to be capable of digital coax or optical or analog inputs only). What other audio output options does your tv have other than ARC?

I'd probably just connect your cable box to the Oppo and use one of the hdmi outputs to the tv for best video, and then connect the Oppo to the soundbar by one of the available digital/analog inputs.

I would not pass the 103 through the TW box. It should go straight to the display if possible. The 103D has an HDMI input that you could pass the TW box through, but you'd have to have the 103D on.

I think the confusion is that the ARC connection on the TW box happens to be #1, but ARC itself isn't relevant for this discussion AFAIK. If you do not have a receiver, then digital/analog direct to the Z580 is probably the best option and HDMI to the TV since you can only get Darbee on HDMI 1 from the 103D.
