Hi,

I'm a newbie to the world of home theatre connection and this site and I have a problem which I hope all the gurus out there can help me sort out.

So please bear with me...

I have just bought a Philips DVP3120 DVD player and have successfully connected it to the TV using component video (Y/Pb/Pr) cables and a RCA audio cable (White/Red).

I have a (somewhat low end "Enzer" brand) subwoofer with 5 speakers. The back of which are all RCA connectors (3 pairs of Red/White : F/L, F/R, R/L, R/R, Cen, Sub).

Is it possible for me to connect the DVD player to this? The DVD player does seem to support as it also have 3 pairs of audio connection (F/L, F/R, R/L, R/R, Cen, Sub).

I have tried connecting the 3 pairs of audio cables from the player to the subwoofer but there was no audio coming out of it. Only the video is playing without any audio.

How should I go about connecting the DVD player & the subwoofer?

Thanks in advance !

While it may be possible, it isn't a good idea because you will have no volume control at all. It needs to go to a receiver/preamp first.
