I just purchased a new Onkyo AV receiver to replace my 10 year old Yamaha. I want to take advantage of the Dolby digital sound I can get from me satellite (Dish) receivers and DVD/VCR combo deck.
Here are the components I want to connect to complete my home theater system:
Onkyo (TX-SR601) receiver, Dish Network (811) HDTV receiver, Dish Network (501) PVR receiver, and a Panasonic (PV-D4732) DVD/VCR combo deck. Video will feed a Sony (KP-53HS10) big screen TV.
Here’s how I was think of connecting everything, but I would like some suggestions if I’m off base on my configuration.
1. Component & Dolby optical output from Dish 811 HD receiver into Component & digital input 1 of the 601.
2. Component & Dolby optical output from Panasonic combo deck (DVD side) into Component & digital input 2 of the 601.
3. Component video output from the 601, to Video 5 input on the Sony.
2. RCA video/audio (SD) out of the Dish 811 receiver into RCA video/audio IN1 of Panasonic combo deck.
3. RCA video/audio out of the Panasonic combo deck into Video 1 on the 601.
4. RCA video/audio out of Video 1 on the 601 into Video 1 input on the Sony.
5. RCA video/audio output from Dish 501 receiver into Video 2 input on the 601.
6. RCA video/audio out of Video 2 on the 601 into Video 2 input on the Sony.
