Hi all,

I am pretty new here. Half a year ago i started to become a kind of audiophile for my sense. I am still very excited about my purchase of an tube-amplifier with the weird name YAQIN MC-10L. Here are the technical specs:

Tubes: EL34B × 4 (Power amplifier)
6N1 × 4 (Input and driver)
Maximum Output: 52W x 2 (8Ω)
Output Jacks: Two channels with two groups gold plated jacks
Output Impedance: 4Ω and 8Ω
Input Sensitivity: 0.3V
Input Impedance: 20KΩ
Input Jacks: 4 Groups gold plated Isolated RCA jacks (CD, DVD, Tape, and Tuner)
Distortion of Harmonic Wave: ≤2% (at 40W)
Frequency Response: 20Hz ~ 60 KHz (±1.5dB 10W)
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 85dB (A weight)
Supply Voltage: AC 110V, 60Hz
Power Consumption: 220W
Net Weight: 17kg
Shipping Weight: 22kg
Shipping Dimension: 60cm x 44cm x 32cm

To this 2 channel amplifier I have 2 bookshelf loudspeakers connected. They are from Polk Audio and called TSi200.

Now I come to my question :

Can I additionally wire an active sub to the above setup? the sub is also from Polk Audio and has the name PSW10

Please help me. I read soo much about all the possibilities so that I am totally confused.

Thank you very much!

Connect the speaker wires from the output of your tube amp into the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the subwoofer. Then connect your speakers to the "SPEAKER OUT" terminals on the subwoofer.

This will allow the bookshelf speakers to only receive the higher frequencies while the subwoofer handles the bass. The ammount of bass that is passed onto the bookshelf speakers is controlled by the "LOW PASS" knob on the back of the subwoofer.

See page 10 -"OPTION #2"

Hi majorloser,

thank you first for the fast response. I was wondering about this kind of solution. The issues i have is that only one channel of my amp will be used for the sub and then i am connecting two loudspeakers to it...loss of power?

The other issue is, that i would like to make us of the tube amplifier as much as possible and not get the sound filtered by the sub. I am worried the sound could be changed. But perhaps i am totally wrong about my above concerns...Just a bloody beginner;)

The tube amp does not provide power for the subwoofer. The signal is passed through. You will still need to connect both the right and left speaker wires through the subwoofer for the bass signal from both channels to be received by the subwoofer.

Unfortunately it looks like this particular subwoofer does not have "line level" ouput connections. This would allow the connections to be made between the preamp and the tube amplifier. This would be a preferred method, but it's not going to degrade your signal.
