Hello,

I am new to all this, so please bear with me.

I was recently given a pair of active Resolv Monitors (Bi-amp) and need to find out how to hook them up to my A/V receiver (Sony STR-DE895). The speakers have RCA and XLR inputs.

I have searched the net for info but have come up short.

Do I need something else ? like a mixer or something to drive the speakers?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If your receiver has preamp outs, all you'll need is RCA cables. If not, then you'll need an impedance coupler. PartsExpress.com sells the item you're looking for, but I don't recall the model number. Easier to locate in their printed catalog than on the website, but still doable.

Rob,

Thanks for the response.

I have been researching a bit and think that by hooking it up to the TAPE output (I think they are preamp outs) should work...

Either way I will prob want to get another set of the same speakers + a Sub, in which case I think I made need a standalone 5.1 decoder or preamp, which should come with the 5 outputs necessary to drive all the speakers.

Do you know of any "good quality" and "affordable" brands that may serve this purpose?

Thanks,
