Connecting a new reciever to existing bose system

Hi: I have a home theatre system from Bose (receiver, sub-woofer and speaker). I want to replace the receiver with a different receiver from a different vendor. But not sure if the connections are standard. The bose receiver has a 8-pin round connector going to the sub-woofer and the 5 speaker wires run from the sub-woofer. Is this 8 pin connector a standard output on all receivers or propriatary to Bose. If it is propriatary, any suggestions on how and which receiver can I but to replace the bose receiver?

TIA
Ravi

If you have a Bose cube system, the only way you can hook up the cube system to an external receiver is using the receiver's pre-out.

You cannot use the receiver's speaker out to power the cube system.

Bose does some weird proprietary EQing to compensate for the smaller woofers inside the small cubes. A normal amp would make the cubes and the sub sound really weird.

What bose System

Which Bose system are you using? I used to have A lifestyle 28. If this is the one you are using, or if yours is similar. If I remember correctly you can buy an adapter for the connector. If your facing the same thing I faced, limited inputs on the Bose. Although it wouldn't be the best fix you can buy any receiver with an optical out and run it to the optical input of the Bose which, even with a lowend receiver, will give you a significant # of inputs + you will still have the benefits of the EQing features of the Bose receiver, which are the best option IMO for the Bose Cube array.
