I'm guessing that there is a cheaper way, but after doing some looking, I didn't find anything better than my first thought: basically, using a wireless network.

Apple AirPort Express units are handy, but a bit pricey. They only have one ethernet port. I'm not sure if an AirPort Extreme base station would suit your needs.

What are you using as a wireless transmitter for the PS3?

You can set up a wireless bridge near your audio equipment to connect to your wireless router. See my review of the WET200 under the reviews board for an example.
