I am a bass junkie and just purchased a pair of Cerwin Vega CLSC-215 Dual 15” 3-Way Tower Speakers which can each handle 500 watts of power, my certer speaker is a 200W Cerwin model and my rears are 100w Sonys. I have a pioneer DS1 Reciever puts out a max of 500w and does posess power amp inputs for the main, center and rear channels. I need to adaquately power my system. I want max power potential where do I turn next? I am more concearned that my bass can be heard in the next county then with the overall acuistics. Please help? I find the pre-amp, power amp, crossover converation confusing at best.

Get a separate two channel amplifier to power your towers. I would suggest something around 250-300 watts continuous power both channels driven simultaneously. If that is still not enough, get a 3 channel amp around 200 watts continuous all channels driven simultaneously for your center and surrounds.

If your goal is bass, you should definitely purchase a beefy separate amp for your front three speakers (or at least your main l/r). Not sure if you have a stand-alone active sub, but purchasing a 12" (i.e. B&W ASW650) would add some additional punch. As for the amp, shoot for something with 200W x 3; there are some older Adcom and/or Carver three-channels that will do the job nicely and won't kill your wallet (may be able to find one used--the quality of amps usually does depredate over time; they either work or they don't--check out: www.saturdayaudio.com)

Lots of bass

Basically, all you need is a powered subwoofer.
