Hi, my name is nuance and I have a problem:( I just cant stop buying them. I have all the new dvds that are coming out marked on a calender at least 3 months in advance and I have to buy them as soon as they come out ( every tuesday). Its actually really exciting when a big movie comes out like Wedding Crashersand others. There isn't a week that I don't go into blockbuster and spend $100 on previously viewed movies. My collection (190 dvds) probly isn't that big compared to alot of you out there but its growing fast. Help me i'm in a whirlwind of emotion;)

I'm sure i'm not the only person that has c.d.v.d.d but the first step is admitting it:p (a tear comes to my eye and i sit back down in my seat)

Although my collection of about 80 dvds is smaller than yours, I think bought too many, too. It's hard not to buy because they are so cheap. These days I only buy dvds with both Dolby and DTS. Incidentally, this helps me cut down on buying too many movies.

Hi nuance, and the group says "hi nuance". I am here to help.
Solution: Assuming you are male, take down your calendar, and replace it with one from Sports Illustrated: http://www.shop.com/op/aprod-p30390701-k24-g4-~sports+illustrated+calendar-nover?sourceid=3

Just bought a 400 disk DVD changer and I filled almost half of it myself, and since me and my dad networked it to the downstairs theater its prolly got 250-275 movies total in it.

If I bought every movie I wanted my collection would be atrotious as I love sci-fi and even more so I love HORROR. So I would grab every horror movie that intrigued me.

I was happy to finalize my Friday The 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street collections. Including Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason.

Not only that but all I need is Return of the Living Dead 1,2, and 3 to complete my George Romero Zombie collection.

My fingures hurt so my time in this session is now over.

EDIT- Fingers no longer hurt so I wanted to brag how I got the Matrix Collection (10 disc set with Neo bust) for $25.59 new in a box while MediaPlay was closing out.

I have the same problem of which you all speak. I have around 400 dvds. I rarley buy movies on tuesdays they come out though, but I have started to alot now since Bestbuy and Ciruitycity sale them for 14.99 the day they come out. It makes it really hard not to when everywhere you go sells dvd's now. And when you can to block buster or videoupdate and you can buy 2 and get 2 free. Its an addiction and well worth it when you can watch all your favorite movies on your own personal theatre anytime.

I am close to controlling my addiction. I only buy on average about 4 or 5 DVDs a month now. I used to buy many more each month, but I have most of the older flicks I want and there aren't a whole lot of new movies I have to have anymore. Movie Collector (the software I use for tracking movies) says I have 1449 titles. I have no idea how many actual discs I have as I have many sets including 6 or 7 discs. A list of what I own is at:

http://movies.dblattman.com/

Now if I could just stop buying home theater components

Nuance, the real issue is whether you can afford them. If you're making good money and its no biggie to splurge then go ahead. I usually rent alot of my movies, and I contain the buying to movies that really show off my sound system.

LOL in October I bought 27 movies, November and December are slow months cause I hold off for xmas, but i fell the urge to get more soon.

EDIT- I don't plan on being an early adopter of a High Definition DVD format cause I want 2nd generation universal players to come first.

I don't have that many dvds, 60-70. The only dvds I buy now are seasons to tv shows like X-Files and Family Guy. If there is a great deal on dvds I'll buy it. I've been renting movies online from www.zip.ca, so there is really no need to buy dvds.

Twenty-five and holding

I have about twenty-five DVD movies, including the three "free" DVDs that came with the DVD player, and about a dozen concert videos. I have decided not to buy any more movies until I can get them in a high definition format. Why buy twice?

I hear you my friend. I used to have the same problem. But after awhile my collection tends to gravitate toward action/ sci-fi with either good sound effects/editing, or great visual effects. After awhile I found myself getting fewer and fewer DVDs.

I have around 190 movies and have decided to hold back on buying any movie made after 2000 since most movies before that were not filmed in high definition, and I don't believe movies remastered in hd will be that great of a improvement.

What are we going to do when DVD's begin to die off because of Blu-Ray and HDDVD?

This is my biggest Fear.

I just got over 900 DVD's, I buy them every tuesday and personally to me it really doesn't matter if the movie is great, good or garbage. I haven't seen it yet they all pass 2 hours and most of the time they are enjoyable.

Hot Shots! We have those movies! They were great jokes in the day.
