Welcome to the forum.

What else do you have?

Its generally used to plug other components (DVD player, Playstation, cable box, etc...) "video" signal into the receiver (component in) and then run the video signal to the tv (component out). This will enable you to use the receiver as a component switching device. Yours only has two, so you can only plug two components directly into it.

The benefit is, if you have a TV that only has one set of component inputs, then you can use the receiver to switch between two devices using component. If you have enough inputs on your TV, there isn't any compelling reason to run video through the receiver.
