component video vs. rca audio/video cables

They look the same. Are they interchangeable? I have 5.1 analog output from my dvd player that I need to hook up to my receiver (for analog audio). Will I get better results hooking up using component video cables or those that say they're analog a/v cables? Is there anything special about the component cables that make them more suited for video signal vs. audio? Otherwise. they're all priced similarly anyway (brand/line), and I'm wondering if the video cables might have tighter specs.
