Component video vs. DVI which is better

Hi,
Having just decided to change my Marantz DV 8300 to the Denon 3910 inorder to make use of the DVI output which would run into my Infocus SP 5700, I came across this article in ecoustics:

Any thoughts on the above article? It baically says that there is no clear answer and that it depends on each case.
Am I wasting my hard earned money?
Thanks.

The link your provided, speaks a lot of truth. I've been following the DVI vs. component scenario for a few months now. In a month or so, I'll be moving to a 42" plasma. I was considering my connection capabilities. The Panasonic features "blades" that you can buy and install on the set to give additional connection capability.

From those who have gone through the process of converting to DVI/HDMI, some have even claimed that their picture was better using components. Thus, you have to take the whole picture (no pun intended) into consideration:

Player <---> Cables/format <---> Display device

With the diagram above, there are lots of variables. If you "clone" someone else's format, same player, cables/format, display device - and they've proven that DVI features the best connection, then, there's a good chance that it will work well for you.

However, "blazing your own trail" might mean that you lay out a significant investment ... only to realize that the "old trusty" component connections might have been the best -- and at a lesser cost.
