Component Video Cables

Not directing to any brand, but what makes Component Video Cable 1 better than Component Video Cable 2? Assuming they are all 75 ohm video cables. Why would I want to spend say 20 or more (saw one for 250 bucks for 1m) vs 10-15 bucks on a component cable @ Walmart? What will I gain by spending more or is this another marketing scam?

Thanks,

Mostly marketing. Some of the more expensive cables (but still in the lower end of the price spectrum) are higher quality. This means their shielding is more effective, perhaps double shielding (usually a copper braid and aluminum foil), the cable is built tougher, and the terminations are of higher quality and closer to the 75-ohm spec. There is NO reason to pay $250 for component cables. Of course, I don't think I'd buy the bargain basement cables at Walmart either, just too much risk of shoddy workmanship and such, unless you're talking about the Phillips Gold, which are pretty good.

Other good options include (this is really repetative):

Blue Jeans

What he said ^^^

I just buy the Philips premium cables from Walmart. It works great. Once you go beyond the price of something like what Blue Jeans Cable offers, you are paying for marketing, voodoo propanganda, and bling (snazzy looks).

Check out the new line of RCA cables from Home Depot. When I picked up my 100' of 12/2 speaker wire and banana plugs, I also picked up two 6' sections of RCA component RGB cables for $10 a piece. They fit extremely tight onto my Denon. Nice, heavy, gold plated, and very easy to thread through a difficult entertainment center.
