Component versus HDMI (on DVD vs HD receiver)?

I am guessing that this is a pretty common question, but I am looking for any feedback or opinions...

Because my Mitsubishi DLP TV only has one HDMI input, I currently have my LG DVD (upconversion) hooked up to it. But when my DirectTV HD dish and HD receiver soon get installed, I will now have another device to hook-up as HD (but only one HDMI). I can eventually guy an HDMI switch box, but those are not cheap. So for now I have the classic choice which device to hook-up as HDMI versus which one to use Component for.

Is it better to hook-up my LG upconversion DVD player to the HDMI, and the DirectTV HD receiver via Component? So far the advice I have been given is that I will see more "benefit" from having the LG DVD upconversion player hooked up on the HDMI. Do you agree, or disagree, with that?

Any experience, feedback, or logic would be appreciated.

Hook up the LG ....... I believe that it will not "up-convert" through the component output. The dish will transmit a nice HD signal through component
