Hi very new to this

Can I purchase a reciever that will change component video lines in, from hd cable box, sat,and dvd to hdmi ??? and what cables should I run from reciever to my plasma before I close the wall up on a new house we are building and yes I did run conduit for future upgrades

Yes, my Onkyo 805 does that. You only need HDMI from the receiver to the monitor unless you think you'll need analog also.
