I have a Yamaha RX-V2600 and was wondering from other owners of this amp or anyone who can help.....

Is there a loss of video quality upconverting component to HDMI through the receiver from my satellite to my TV as opposed to a direct connection from my satellite to the TV using component cables?

What about HDMI in to HDMI out?

Please let me know before I go out and by another HDMI cable ....

System:
Panasonic TH50PX500U 50" Plasma
Yamaha RX-V2600
Oppo Digital 071 DVD player
HD Satellite TV
Monitor Audio Bronze Surround Speaker and Sub
Belkin Pure AV Silver Series Cables

The video section of your Yamaha is pretty high end and won't degrade the signal quality. If fact, with a component video input, you can take advantage of the upscalling feature to output 720p or 1080i to your HDTV over HDMI.

With HDMI input (and output) through the receiver you might run into an HDCP proplem with the satellite box and the receiver cannot upscale an HDMI input.
