Component cable 1080p signal?

Someone was telling me that component cables can carry a 1080p signal. Is this true? Could it be true in the future? I searched the forums and found nothing on this...

It is true. There are 'rogue' dvd players like the Neuneo that will output 1080p over component, and some tv's that will accept it. I have heard some Westinghouse ones will, but it's unadvertised.

It is in the Westinghouse review on this site and it is expected, since it is advertised as such, that the PS3 will output 1080p for gaming over component on the lesser expensive model.
