Component AV Switches question

Hi

My Phillips widescreen Crt only has one AV component input which is being used for my stb, and I need another for my DVD player,
I have seen both powered and unpowered versions, and wondering whether it needs to be powered...or better if it is...otherwise I'd opt for saving power.

Also, if you have any recommendations? I only really need a 2 into one adaptor but can only find these switches.

The idea behind the switches is very simple. You plug in two inputs, you have a transistor which completes the circuit for one of the inputs or the other input. Given that, you should opt for power saving switch/non powered versions. They sort of work like T connectors but with a switch in place.
