Component 2 scart

I have purchased a component 2 scart cable to hook my dvd -tv but can't get a signal. the cable arrows run in both directions -and when the same connection is made using s-video works fine, can't work out if scart cable faulty or what is wrong -any help please?

My understanding is that scart actually contains more information than component, and is not necessarily fully compatible. There is sometimes a switch in the menu that has to be activated. You may want to try that.
