Hey, great forum!

So I am new to the speaker way of life (i mostly listen to music through my beyerdynamic dt 770 pro headphones) but would like to set up a room dedicated to audio and recently i purchased second hand two B&W floor speakers. They didnt come with cabling and i now realise that decent speakers DO NOT just use your simple audio black/red cables... the problem is i have no idea how to connect my receiver to the speaker audio sockets.... if anyone could help with this most probably ridiculous issue mi having it owuld be greatly appreciated :)

EDIT: i figure you'll need some bg info, i bought two B&W 200 series v204 floor speaker (yeah old i know but was a bargain)

The sockets have red and black screw off caps and a protruding metal tube.

Its form this point i get lost haha

Cheers

I'm assuming you're talking about 5-way binding posts:

Do the protruding metal tubes have a hole in the side of them, or a hole on the end of them? The hole on the side is for bare wire. You simply remove about 3/4-1 inch of the sheathing on speaker wire, and screw down your cap to tighten the wire when it is placed through the hole. The hole on the end (top) would be if you were to use banana plugs, which make it easier to disconnect speakers and may provide you with a better connection.

What type of reciever do you have? Some recieviers have the same binding posts as the speakers. Some of the older models have spring-loaded speaker terminals: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/graphics/infolib/homelib/hSpeakerSpringClip.jpg

A good website to get the cable from when we figure out what you need is:
