We are redoing the basement and on my wishlist is a big sound system. Now, as I mentioned I am redoing the basement, and that means that I don't have a lots of money left over to buy said big sound system. After a visit to my local electronics store, I decided to consult the internet.
What I am looking at is a Yamaha RX V 2092, which I have been assured is a really nice receiver. Cost would be in the $150-$200 range.
For speakers I am considering Paradigm 11se speakers, cost $250-300. Not sure if these are okay with the Yamaha or not. They are 300 watts.
Second option is a pair of Boston Acoustic VR20s for around $120.
There are a few other options but frankly these seemed like the best potential deals.
I am guessing that after I buy an amp and a pair of speakers I will need a sub and possibly another pair of smaller speakers? Or not? This is strictly for music, not be used with a TV at all.
Edit to add that I would primarily be listening to rock music (not super heavy, think 3 Doors Down / Coldplay / U2 / Goo Goo Dolls / Def Leppard / Fuel / Collective Soul) on the system and it would be used in a relatively large room in my basement, 12.5' x 27' with an 8' ceiling.
Thanks for any input at all!
