"complete" 2ch/2.1 receiver/player SACD system!

I am looking for a nice 2 channel SACD player for a den/office. I would like a "clomlete system" for the ease, but would go with seperate systems if nessecary.


I would like to listen to SACD'S on a nice system that could fill a office/den size room. I did some looking but did not find any complete systems. Any suggestions would be much appriciated!!

$600 to $1200.

I was looking at the Denon S series. I am sure this would be a great system but I do not need a DVD player and surround sound.

I want great 2ch sound to play 2ch SACD. Nothing to outlandish just great sound in a small system.

That's a big range, but here's my $.02. These prices are just based upon retail; you could get a lot more for your money if you went used. But here it goes:

• Speakers: Epos ELS-3 ($329)
• Integrated amp: Music Hall A25.2 ($599)
• Pioneer DV-578A ($199)

The first two are highly regarded values (only in audio world is $600 for an amp considered a value). The last piece is a great entry-level unit.

However, I would recommend you forego the SACD requirement and just get a nice CD player, say a unit from Marantz, Cambridge, NAD, or Music Hall. I think going quality CD player is better than going budget SACD, especially if it's just 2-channel.

Axiom provides a very good product for the money. Never heard them, so I'm not sure how they'd compare either.

Also, I have a pair of Energy C-3 speakers in my office setup. Fantastic value for the money. I got them used for $130. They are also more efficent than the Epos, so you could drive them better with less power.

To touch again on the SACD issue, you might want to look into a used Sony player. They make many models of CD/SACD players without video capacity. For example, here's one:
